Breakout Rooms Presenter support

We are adding the ability for organizer to extend the management of Breakout Rooms to specific presenters. This feature will enable meeting organizers to add and remove presenters as Breakout Room managers.

By taking control from Breakout rooms management panel, appointed presenters will be allowed to perform Breakout room operations as manager or meeting organizer, as well as joining Rooms as Breakout Room manager.

Breakout rooms: Pre-meeting room creation and participant assignment

We are adding the ability for meeting organizers to pre-create rooms ahead of a meeting start and perform participant assignment tasks (both auto and manual) in advance.

Spam Notification in Call Toast

We are thrilled to bring you Spam Call Notifications. This unique, vanguard feature release will enable calls that are likely Spam calls to be identified in the call toast. This is rolling out to Teams desktop and web.

  • All answered or missed calls that are likely Spam calls will be reflected respectively in the call history screen as well.

Introducing background effects on web

Introducing background effects on web. If you want to change what appears behind you in your video meeting or call, you can either blur your background or replace it entirely with any image you want.

Note: Blurring or replacing your background might not prevent sensitive information from being visible to other people in the call or meeting.

Viva Connections (Private preview) app visible in Teams

In preparation for broader customer availability, the Viva connections (Private preview) app will now be visible in the Teams admin center and the Teams app store. At this point, the app cannot be installed or used. We will update you when the app is ready for use.

Ability to swap content and gallery is coming back

This feature update will allow you, when in a Teams meeting and someone shares content, to now click on participant videos in gallery view to swap the content with gallery, effectively bringing videos to the center and content to the side or top.

Note: Unlike earlier, when Large Gallery was disabled when content was shared, you can now launch Large Gallery when somebody is sharing screen or other content.

Teams Meeting Recordings Auto-Expiration in OneDrive and SharePoint

As part of the evolution of the new Stream (built on SharePoint), we are introducing the meeting recording auto-expiration feature, which will automatically delete Teams recording files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint after a preset period of time.

New Device Parsing Logic in Microsoft Teams Call Quality Dashboard

The Microsoft Teams Call Quality Dashboard (CQD) product group is introducing new logic to our device parsing in Call Quality Dashboard (CDQ). This change will improve the accuracy with which we identify capture and render devices that Microsoft Teams users rely on every day, enabling administrators to get a better view of their device quality landscape through Call Quality Dashboard.

New Side-by-side and Reporter Presenter modes with desktop and window sharing

This new first of its kind feature release will allow presenters, while sharing a screen in Presenter modes, to be able to present in two new presentation layouts in an immersive experience alongside their content.

This feature is rolling out on Microsoft Teams desktop app for both Windows and Mac.

PSTN Service Desk email support transition

Beginning July 22, 2021 there will be a new process to interact with the PSTN service desk for your requests for phone number porting and phone number ordering support. You will now be able to open tickets, view tickets, and track communication in the brand new Phone Number Service Center portal that will be integrated with the Teams Admin Center!

Note: This transition has already been announced via outgoing emails on existing requests, and new requests submitted via email will receive a response pointing the requestor at the new process.
