Microsoft Stream (built on SharePoint): Updated Web player for video

The web player for audio & video files that are stored in OneDrive and SharePoint (including when those files are embedded in Teams, Yammer, and SharePoint web parts) is being updated with a new user look and feel and adheres to greater levels of accessibility for keyboard navigation and screen readers.

Edit a SharePoint page or news post in Microsoft Teams

This feature will allow users to edit modern SharePoint pages or news posts within Teams experience. Users can now pin a Page or News Post to a Teams channel and make edits without leaving Teams.

SharePoint admin center: New columns on Active sites page

In the SharePoint admin center, the Active sites page will provide new information: 

• The “Created from” column will show the apps that were used to create sites.
• The “Teams” column will show which sites are connected to Microsoft Teams.

SharePoint admin center: Replace root site is now available to all customers

Replacing (swapping) the root site is now available to all customers from the SharePoint admin center.

• Previously, customers with more than 10k users had to use PowerShell to replace their root site.

Adjusting Version Retention for Outlook Data Files (PST File Type)

Starting August 16 2021, we’ll be introducing new retention policies for Outlook Data Files (PST File type) Versions to prevent them from consuming storage capacity for OneDrive & SharePoint Online.

The new policy will limit the number of PST versions retained, resulting in greater storage capacity from PST version storage.
