Configure sensitivity labels for encrypt-only protection on Outlook messages
You will be able to create labels within Microsoft 365 compliance center that enforce an encrypt-only restriction when applied to Outlook email messages. This message applies to Outlook desktop (Windows and Mac), Outlook mobile (iOS and Android), and Outlook on the Web.
This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 72171.
When this will happen
Rollout will begin in late March and is expected to be complete by early May.
How this will affect your organization
With encrypt-only restriction, available within Office 365 Message Encryption, users can send encrypted email to any recipient, whether the recipient is inside or outside of the organization. The protection follows the lifecycle of the email.
What you need to do to prepare
You will be able to to create labels in the Microsoft 365 compliance center that enforce this encrypt-only setting on Outlook email messages.
You might want to notify your users about this new capability and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
