Extension of CNS service API support for Teams Phone Devices until Jan 15, 2025

The CNS Service API support for Teams Phone devices has been extended to January 15, 2025. The extension is temporary, and users must plan upgrades to avoid long-term service interruptions. Impacted models and required actions for updates are specified.

As mentioned in Message Center Post (MC804765), the CNS Service API support for Teams Phone devices will be retired by the end of September 2024. This notice is to inform you that the timeline for this has been extended until January 15, 2025. As such, incoming call notifications, voicemail, missed call notifications and other vital functions on Teams Android phone devices will not be impacted until January 15, 2025. However, you must continue planning your hardware/software upgrades and deploying supported models as soon as possible since the extension is a short-term mitigation and you will need upgraded hardware/ software to avoid interruption in the long term.

Teams Android phone device models that are impacted by the deprecation of CNS Service API are as follows

How this will affect your organization:

In the short term, incoming call notifications, voicemail, missed call notifications and other vital functions on phone devices will not be impacted until January 15, 2025. In the long term, devices that are not upgraded may experience reduced functionality. This may impact your organization’s ability to effectively use our services. More specifically, CNS service depreciation is expected to impact incoming call, voicemail and missed call scenarios on Teams Android phone devices.

What you need to do to prepare:

Please update Teams application version of end of support device models to 1449/1.0.94.2024062811 while you make plans to upgrade hardware.
