Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management: New data leaks policy template enabled by HR data connector (GA)

Currently available in public preview for Insider Risk Management (MC382820), we’re rolling out a new data leaks policy template that leverages data from an HR connector

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 83959.

When this will happen:

Rollout will begin in mid-November and is expected to be complete by mid-December.

How this will affect your organization:

The data leaks policy template enabled by the HR 1.2 connector starts scoring user activity when an indicator associated with data security risk signals is identified. Activities may include downloading files from SharePoint Online and copying data to personal cloud messaging and storage services.

What you need to do to prepare:

To utilize this template, you must first configure an HR connector. Set up a connector to import HR data

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies to manage security and compliance. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.
