Sending from a Proxy Address (Outlook on the Web)

We’re excited to announce that Outlook on the web will natively support the ability to choose a proxy (alias) address from a drop-down list right within the compose pane. When the mail is received by a recipient, the FROM and REPLY TO will show that alias, regardless of where the recipient’s mailbox happens to live.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 59437

When this will happen

We will begin rolling this out in early May and expect to complete rollout mid-May.

How this will affect your organization

This new feature will allow users to send mails from their aliases easily when using Outlook on the web. When enabled, your users will get access to a list of checkboxes where each entry corresponds to an alias in their Outlook settings.

This is rolling out default off. To enable, tenant admins are required to use the below cmdlets

  • Set-OrganizationConfig -SendFromAliasEnabled $true

What you need to do to prepare

You might want to notify your users about this new capability and update your training and documentation as appropriate.
