Sentiment Analysis in Viva Engage Premium Analytics

Audience Analytics, part of Viva Engage premium, will enable users identified as leaders have access sentiment analysis features powered by Azure Cognitive Services (ACS).

Sentiment in your audience uses ACS sentiment analysis to understand the aggregate sentiment across all public posts and comments on storyline and in communities written by members of the leader’s defined audience.

Themes in your audience uses ACS opinion mining to surface frequently discussed subjects of conversation within the leader’s audience, along with information about whether the total sentiment expressed toward that subject is positive, neutral, negative, or mixed. The threads with the highest number of comments and reactions in which the subject is mentioned are also surfaced, making it easy for leaders and their teams to gain context and/or jump in to participate in conversations.

When this will happen:

We will begin rolling out early February and expect to complete by late February.

How this will affect your organization:

Sentiment analysis features will be enabled by default for all customers except K-12 customers. Sentiment analysis features will not be available to K-12 customers. When an audience is defined for a leader, the sentiment analysis features will be activated for members of that audience. Results will be available to the leader of that audience and their delegates.

What you need to do to prepare:

Viva Engage admins can control sentiment analysis features for their tenant through the admin control center. Prior to setting up an audience in Viva Engage, it is recommended to consider if you would like leaders of audiences, and their delegates, to have access to sentiment analysis features. If so, no action is required. If not, sentiment can be turned off in the admin center by Viva Engage admins.
