Microsoft Stream: New in-product messages to help admins promote usage of Stream (on SharePoint)

We are introducing two new in-product messages that will allow admins to promote the usage of Stream (on SharePoint) within their organization. First, admins will have the option to turn on a small banner message which will appear on the home page of Stream (Classic) to all users. Admins can choose a default message or customize one of their own. The default message states: You’re accessing Stream (Classic). To visit the new version of Stream, select the Stream (on SharePoint) button to the right. The default message is localized to all languages. If admins choose to place a custom message, they will need to localize the message to any required languages. Second, when users select “Upload video” from Stream (Classic) a message will appear by default that gives users the option to upload their videos to either Stream (Classic) or Stream (on SharePoint). Should your organization wish to opt-out of this default message, you can raise a support ticket with subject line “Disable upload to Stream (on SharePoint)”.

Microsoft Stream: Stream web app

The Stream web app improves how you view and publish video and audio files that are uploaded to Teams, Yammer, OneDrive, and SharePoint. The app and player experience works seamlessly with Office.com and brings key features of Stream (classic) into SharePoint. You can easily prepare your video for publishing with a title and description right under the video, set the custom thumbnail, add chapters, generate a transcript, share videos, and even share your video at a specific time code. Office.com and Share links to video and audio files across Microsoft 365 will get this updated experience automatically replacing the previous player page.

Microsoft Stream: Add or edit multiple captions and transcripts for a video in SharePoint, OneDrive, or Stream (on SharePoint)

You can upload, download, delete, and replace multiple WebVTT caption files (Web Video Text Tracks) for a single video in Stream (on SharePoint) or for a video stored in SharePoint or OneDrive for business. Multiple WebVTT caption files for one video means you can upload captions and transcripts for different languages or dialects. All uploaded VTT files will be displayed as both captions inside the video player and as transcripts in the pane next to the video. With this feature you’ll be able to add translated captions and transcripts to videos by downloading the WebVTT file generated by Stream or Teams live transcript, editing/translating it on your own in a text or VTT editor, and then uploading it. You will then have one video that gives users the option to view captions and transcripts in multiple languages.
