WSUS driver synchronization is on its way out
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) will be deprecating its driver synchronization feature on April 18, 2025. This lifecycle update is due to the availability of today’s cloud-based driver services. Read the full announcement at Deprecation of WSUS driver synchronization.
When will this happen:
The deprecation of WSUS driver synchronization is currently scheduled for April 18, 2025.
What you need to do to prepare:
Drivers will continue to be made available on the Microsoft Update catalog, but you will no longer be able to import them into WSUS. If you wish to continue operating your network on-premises, you will need to use an alternative means to import drivers and distribute them across your devices. For this purpose, we recommend Device Driver Packages.
