Windows Autopatch availability within Microsoft Intune admin center

If you use Microsoft Managed Desktop, Windows Autopatch is now available as an additional option in Microsoft Intune admin center. Windows Autopatch is a service that automates Windows, Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Teams updates, while offering security and productivity solutions.

You can enroll into Windows Autopatch via the Microsoft Intune admin center, and register any devices not currently under management by Microsoft Managed Desktop. With this option, it will now be possible to enroll into Windows Autopatch without raising a support ticket. As always, Windows Autopatch is included under Window 10 and Windows 11 Enterprise E3 licensing agreements, or higher. To learn about the changes that happen to tenants at the time of their enrollment, see Changes made at Windows Autopatch enrollment and Maintain the Microsoft Managed Desktop environment.
When this will happen:
This option was made available beginning October 5, 2023.
What you need to do to prepare:
Please note, devices included in both Windows Autopatch and Microsoft Managed Desktop services are currently not supported by this new enrollment option.
For the Windows Autopatch option to be available on Microsoft Managed Desktop tenants, you must take action on Microsoft Intune admin center. Find the Tenant Management blade on the left pane, then select the ‘Tenant administration’ view. From there, select ‘Microsoft Managed Desktop’, and then ‘Tenant management’. Details of the specific action can be found at Maintain the Microsoft Managed Desktop environment and Enroll your tenant.
Once the above action is completed, the Windows Autopatch option will appear in Windows Intune within 24 hours (select Tenant Administration, and then navigate to Windows Autopatch, then Tenant Enrollment).
Additional information:
If you have any questions or concerns, or need assistance, file a service request by visiting the Microsoft Intune admin center.
