Briefing Email – 16 additional languages supported

The Briefing email from Microsoft Viva helps users start their day on track by surfacing information to prepare for upcoming meetings, follow up on outstanding tasks as well as protect time for independent work. Currently, the Briefing email is available for Microsoft 365 Enterprise users with Exchange Online mailboxes in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese Simplified and Japanese. Starting in March 2022, we are expanding to support Exchange Online mailboxes in the following languages:

Retirement of Get/Set-PhishFilterPolicy PowerShell (legacy) to manage spoofed senders using new Tenant Allow Block list

We will be retiring the “Get-/Set-PhishFilterPolicy” PowerShell cmdlets. Instead, we recommend the utilization of the updated feature called “Spoof intelligence insight” in order to view spoofing activity and the new feature called “Tenant allow block lists-Spoofing” in order to manage spoofing activity respectively, which is where we will continue to invest our development resources.

Room Finder for Outlook Mobile

The room search & book experience users are accustomed to in Outlook Mac, Windows and Web will be available in Outlook for iOS and Android. Users can search, check availability and book conference rooms directly from the Create Event screen.

Outlook Mobile is here to make the transition to hybrid work easier. Users can now leverage Room Finder or Book a Workspace features when they need to find space to work – no matter if they need focus time or a room for a large group meeting.

Exchange Transport Rule Report moving to the new Exchange Admin Center (EAC) from the Security and Compliance Center

We will be retiring the Exchange Transport Rule (ETR) report from the Security and Compliance Center (SCC).

  • The report will no longer be available in the security reporting dashboard, beginning early March 2022.

Known Issue: Outlook search does not return results after upgrade to Windows 11

After upgrading to Windows 11, Outlook searches may return no result. This issue could happen with any account where the emails and other items are stored locally in PST or OST files such as POP and IMAP accounts. For Exchange and Microsoft 365 hosted accounts, this issue could affect offline search for the data in the locally stored OST files. 

During the Windows upgrade, the search index is deleted and requires time to get rebuilt after the upgrade is complete.

Upcoming Release Outbound SMTP DANE and DNSSEC in Microsoft 365 Exchange Online

As previously announced in the blog post Support of DANE and DNSSEC in Office 365 Exchange Online, we will be adding support for SMTP DANE and DNSSEC to Exchange Online (EXO). DANE combined with DNSSEC is the state-of-the-art for securing email, and to optimize its effectiveness both standards will be enabled by default at the system level for all EXO customers.
