We are announcing the ability to build multistage approvals in Microsoft Copilot Studio. This feature reached public preview in May 2025 and will reach general availability on October 15, 2025.

How does this affect me?

With multistage approvals, you can create approval workflows that match your organization’s structure and business processes. The main features of advanced approvals include Multi-stage approvals and Conditions/Conditional approvals.

  • Multi-stage approvals: Users configure multiple stages to set up complex approval processes. Each stage has its own set of stakeholders who make approval decisions. Stages can be configured separately to meet the specific needs of stakeholders.
  • Conditions/Conditional approvals: Users add conditions between stages to create adaptable and efficient approval processes. Approvals are automatically approved, rejected, moved to another stage, or skipped based on whether specific conditions are met.
