Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows: Create a presentation with Microsoft Copilot from the PowerPoint Backstage view

Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows will soon allow users to create presentations with Copilot from the Backstage view. This feature requires a Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Copilot 365 license and will roll out from mid-May to late June 2025. No admin action is required, but user notification is recommended.

Coming soon for Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows desktop: Users will be able to create a PowerPoint presentation with Copilot straight from the PowerPoint Backstage view, accessible when you start PowerPoint or when you select the File tab.

This feature requires a Microsoft 365 license or a Microsoft Copilot 365 license.

When this will happen:

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out mid-May 2025 and expect to complete by late May 2025.

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out late May 2025 and expect to complete by late June 2025.

How this will affect your organization:

After this rollout, users will have a Create with Copilot feature at the top of their PowerPoint Backstage view:

This feature will be available by default.

What you need to do to prepare:

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified dates with no admin action required before the rollout. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation.
