Microsoft Purview | Communication Compliance: Analyze linked content shared in Teams chats and private channels

Coming soon for Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance, we’re introducing new functionality to enable communication compliance policies to include content shared in Microsoft Teams chats and private channels.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 88845.

When this will happen:

Rollout will begin in mid-November and is expected to be complete by end of December.

How this will affect your organization:

Organizations can now configure Communication Compliance policies to help detect OneDrive and SharePoint Online documents shared via Teams chat and private channels that might contain sensitive information and could potentially result in a data security incident or regulatory compliance violation.

What you need to do to prepare:

Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance provides the tools to help organizations detect regulatory compliance violations (e.g. SEC or FINRA), such as sensitive or confidential information, harassing or threatening language, and sharing of adult content. Built with privacy by design, usernames are pseudonymized by default, role-based access controls are built in, investigators are opted in by an admin, and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

Get started with Communication Compliance in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.
