Microsoft Purview compliance portal: New and enhanced Source Code trainable classifier

Coming soon, we’re rolling out a new and enhanced version of the Source Code trainable classifier.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 115469.

When this will happen:

Rollout to public preview will begin in late January and is expected to be complete by early February.

Rollout to general availability will begin in mid-February and is expected to be complete by early March.

How this will affect your organization:

The enhanced Source Code trainable classifier replaces the existing Source Code classifier and can be used directly by auto-labeling and data loss prevention policies to detect source code across the digital estate.

The new classifier supports more extensions (23+ programming languages and 70+ extensions) and adds support for partial or embedded source code in Office files.

Additionally, the new classifier delivers high accuracy and low noise with as low as 20 lines of code.

What you need to do to prepare:

If any policy already has Source Code as a condition, no action is required, and the new classifier will be applied in place of the existing one. To utilize the enhanced Source Code classifier in a new policy, choose Source Code as a condition during policy configuration.
