Microsoft Syntex: rule to set content type based on filename

We are adding a new rule in Microsoft Syntex that will provide the capability to automatically set a content type to a file when it is added to a SharePoint library.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 165699

When this will happen:

Standard Release: We will begin rolling out in late August and will be complete by mid-September 2023.

How this will affect your organization:

End users who have Syntex seat license assigned will be able to use this new rule to automatically set a content type.

To set the content type user will be able to select file name or file name extension or file path.

User can find this capability in all document libraries by selecting automate / rules / create a rule / click on “a new file is added” / choose the action / set content type.

More information can be found here: https://review.learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/syntex/content-processing-content-type?branch=set-content-type-working

What you need to do to prepare:

Please make sure the Syntex license is assigned to the users who will benefit from this capability.
