Microsoft Teams: Turn notifications on or off for a post in a channel

Microsoft Teams will soon allow users to manage notifications for individual posts in a channel, with rollouts starting in early July 2024 and completing by early August 2024. This feature will be available on Teams for Desktop and Mac and will be enabled by default. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Users will be able to turn off or turn on notifications for a post in a channel. This message applies to Teams on Desktop and Mac.

When this will happen:

Targeted Release: We will begin rolling out early July 2024 and expect to complete by mid-July 2024.

General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-July 2024 and expect to complete by late July 2024.

General Availability (GCC, GCC High, DoD): We will begin rolling out late July 2024 and expect to complete by early August 2024.

How this will affect your organization:

Select the three-dot menu at the top right of a post to toggle the notifications on or off:

The feature will be enabled by default for users in Teams for Desktop and Mac.

What you need to do to prepare:

This rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required before the rollout. You may want to notify your users about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.
