Supporting Microsoft Copilot Dashboard with Organizational Data in Microsoft 365
The Microsoft Copilot Dashboard now supports Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 for tenants with the appropriate licenses. This feature is already rolled out and requires Viva Insights licenses for advanced features. Admins should review the impact, update training, and ensure data uploaded is managed correctly.
Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 now supports the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard for tenants with the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard license. Users will be able to access the dashboard in the Microsoft Viva Insights app in Microsoft Teams or in the Viva Insights web app. However, Viva or Viva Insights licenses will still be required to access the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard advanced features in the Viva Insights advanced insights app.
When this will happen:
This rollout has completed. This rollout was previously communicated in MC793652 (Updated) The Microsoft Copilot Dashboard in Viva Insights will become available with Copilot for Microsoft 365 (May 2024).
How this will affect your organization:
For tenants without a Viva Insights license, data can be uploaded in the Microsoft 365 admin center, where the uploaded data will be used to power Copilot Dashboard reports and other Microsoft 365 services.
For tenants with a Viva Insights license, the data uploaded in Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 will be used to power Microsoft 365 scenarios AND Viva Insights scenarios. Before this rollout, data uploaded in Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 would not be used as a part of Viva Insights scenarios. After this rollout, future data uploaded in Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 will flow to Viva Insights if the tenant has the Viva Insights license. It is important that your Global admin and Insights admin are in communication about the data being uploaded.
For tenants without a Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 license, data uploads will not show Copilot dashboard, but similarly, the data uploaded in Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 will be used to power Microsoft 365 scenarios AND Viva Insights scenarios.
This feature is on by default and accessible to all Microsoft 365 admins with the appropriate licenses and permissions.

If you have a Microsoft Copilot Dashboard or Viva Insights license, review and assess the impact for your organization. Also, you might consider reviewing with your workers council and updating your training and documentation as appropriate.
If you have uploaded data in Organizational Data in Microsoft 365 and have Viva Insights, when you ingest data through either platform, the data will be merged. Please make sure your Global admin and Insights admin are both aware of this.
