The new Outlook for Windows allows users to open attachments in their preferred desktop apps by double-clicking, streamlining the workflow. This update, linked with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 401123, will roll out between late August and mid-October 2024. No admin action is required for this automatic update.
The Dictation feature in Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android will be retired in September 2024. Organizations with users utilizing this feature should inform them and update documentation, as no admin action is needed for this change.
Microsoft Purview Information Protection will enhance default sensitivity labels and policies to include files, email, and meetings for eligible customers. Rollout starts late September 2024, completing by late October 2024. No admin action required, but updating documentation is advised. Roadmap ID: 398458.
Microsoft Clipchamp will soon allow users to make image backgrounds transparent in videos without losing quality. This feature will be available to all users, with rollouts starting late July 2024 and completing by mid-August 2024. No admin action is required for the update.
The update for Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android will allow external recipient warnings to function offline by caching MailTip service results, with a rollout from mid-August to late September 2024. Organizations can manage this feature by configuring a list of internal domains. Users should be informed of these changes.
Python in Excel will be generally available from August 2024, offering Python formulas in Excel for Windows users. It includes standard compute and a self-purchase option for premium compute. Previously, it was available only to Microsoft 365 Insiders. Rollout will be completed by October 2024. Admins can manage add-on licenses.
Clipchamp, a video editing tool, is launching for Office 365 E3 and E5 subscriptions. It will be accessible via its Windows app or on desktops through Edge or Chrome browsers. Users can edit videos in OneDrive or SharePoint, and it will appear activated in the Microsoft 365 Admin Console. General availability begins late August 2024. No other parts of Office 365 licenses will be affected.
Microsoft is updating the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to better reflect security posture by removing the recommendation in SCID-2051. The rollout begins in mid-July 2024 and completes by mid-August 2024, requiring no admin action but suggesting user notification and documentation updates.
Microsoft Intune will stop supporting User Enrollment with Company Portal for iOS/iPadOS after the release of iOS/iPadOS 18. Existing devices remain unaffected, but new enrollments won’t be supported. Alternatives like account driven User Enrollment or web-based device enrollment are recommended.
