Microsoft Planner: eDiscovery support for Microsoft Planner

eDiscovery support for Microsoft Planner, including search and legal holds, will be generally available in early July 2024. This feature allows admins to search and hold Planner tasks, comments, and attachments in Purview, but only for tenants created before October 2022. No admin action is required for the rollout.

Microsoft Excel: Publish to Power BI retires starting August 19, 2024

The “Publish to Power BI” feature in Microsoft Excel will retire on August 19, 2024. Users should transition to the Power BI service for publishing needs. The Power BI service offers additional capabilities not found in Excel’s publishing feature, and this change will not affect existing workbooks. Users must upload workbooks to Power BI from OneDrive or SharePoint.

Microsoft 365 apps now support OpenDocument Format 1.4

Microsoft 365 apps now support OpenDocument Format 1.4, saving ODF files in this format by default and adding features already in Open Office XML. General availability began in May 2024, with Office LTSC 2024 Preview support in June 2024. Details at the provided link.

Microsoft Outlook: Reset People suggestions

Outlook is introducing a Reset People Suggestion feature, allowing users to reset, export, and opt-out of people suggestions. This will be available in Outlook on the web and the new Outlook for Windows, syncing with Microsoft 365 My Account privacy settings. Rollout begins early August 2024. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Use sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 apps when connected experiences are disabled

Organizations can disable Microsoft 365 connected experiences for privacy without affecting sensitivity labels. Microsoft Purview services are now separate from privacy control policies and will follow Purview’s security admin controls. This update, associated with Roadmap ID 400716, will be rolled out from June to August 2024.

Microsoft Outlook: Scheduling Assistant updates

The Scheduling Assistant in Microsoft Outlook is being updated for better readability, with improved grid lines, an Availability view, a combined Availability bar, updated time zone behavior, and the addition of a Send button. Rollout begins early August 2024, completing by late September 2024. No admin action is required.

Updating conversation actions on Microsoft Outlook for iOS

Microsoft Outlook for iOS is updating conversation actions to a customizable bar at the bottom of the screen, accessible from the Inbox on long-press. The rollout begins in early July 2024 and ends by late July 2024. Organizations should inform users and update documentation.

Microsoft Clipchamp: The Brand kit feature is rolling out with extended elements to Microsoft subscriptions

The Microsoft Clipchamp Brand kit feature is being added to certain Microsoft subscriptions, allowing users to create, share, and use collections of brand assets. It will roll out between mid-July and late August 2024 for users with specific licenses, and it will support extended elements. No admin action is required before the rollout.
