Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Blanket custom retention policies which apply to all Audit recordTypes

Microsoft Purview is enhancing the Audit custom retention policy experience to make it easier for customers to change the default retention policy across all their Audit logs. With this change, customers can now create blanket custom retention policies that apply to all Audit recordTypes. This capability will become available in addition to the existing support of manually selecting specific recordTypes in a custom policy.

Microsoft 365 apps: Set expiration available for all links when sharing

Microsoft 365 apps will soon allow setting expiration dates for all shared links. This feature will be available for links shared with anyone, people in your organization, or selected individuals. The rollout will start in late June 2024 and finish by mid-July 2024, requiring no admin action.

Microsoft Outlook: Microsoft 365 Groups connectors retire starting August 5, 2024

Microsoft 365 Groups connectors in Outlook will retire from August 5 to September 5, 2024. Users won’t be able to create or manage connections, and existing ones won’t receive updates. Microsoft recommends using Power Automate app as an alternative to receive notifications and updates on Group email. Users should prepare for this change by notifying their organization and updating documentation.

Microsoft Outlook: Emails sync to your device for offline use

Outlook will introduce a sync window feature, allowing users to select the number of days’ emails to sync for offline access, with options from 1 to 30 days, including attachments. This feature is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 189809 and will roll out in June 2024. Admins can set default sync settings, and users can customize their preferences. Initially, there’s a 30-day sync limit and a 2,000 message download limit.

New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: Offline support for mail actions and compose

The new Microsoft Outlook for Windows will introduce offline capabilities, allowing users to view mail, calendar events, and contacts, as well as perform key email actions and compose new emails without an internet connection. This feature will start rolling out in late June 2024 and is expected to complete by late July 2024. Users can adjust offline settings, and no action is required to prepare for this rollout.
