Support for .FBX and .SKP three-dimensional file formats in Microsoft 365 apps will retire

Microsoft 365 apps will retire support for .FBX and .SKP file formats on March 1, 2025, due to security concerns. Users must convert these files externally after this date. Existing inserted 3D models will remain unaffected. No admin action is required.

Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android: Attach emails while composing an email

Coming soon for Microsoft Outlook for iOS and Android users: In response to customer requests, we are rolling out the ability to attach emails directly in the compose window. This enhancement allows users to include individual emails as attachments in new messages, facilitating seamless sharing and providing more context for recipients.

Toggle to new Outlook

Starting April 2026, Microsoft 365 for Enterprise users will be switched from classic to new Outlook for Windows, with the option to revert back. This change aims to enhance user experience with modern features. Organizations are notified to prepare, with automatic rollout requiring no admin action but allowing opt-out options.

New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: Read-only support for .pst files

The new Microsoft Outlook for Windows will offer read-only support for .pst files, allowing users to open, read, and search emails in .pst files. Calendar, Contacts, and Tasks data in .pst files will not be accessible in this phase. Rollout begins late November 2024 for Targeted Release and mid-January 2025 for General Availability. Outlook Data File support is enabled by default but can be managed with the OutlookDataFile mailbox policy.

Microsoft Loop – Retention Labels are available for Loop pages and components

Microsoft Loop will support Retention Labels for pages and components, aligning with Microsoft Purview’s records management. Rollout starts late November 2024, completing by late December 2024. No action is needed for tenants as existing labels will automatically apply to Loop content.

Microsoft Loop – Common Admin Management Tasks Enabled for all Loop workspaces

Microsoft Loop will enable common admin management tasks for all workspaces, with a rollout starting in late December 2024 and completion by late March 2025. This update is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 421613. No preparation is needed from organizations as the feature will become available automatically.
