Microsoft 365 will integrate a new cloud update with Microsoft Purview Audit (Standard), rolling out early to mid-November 2024. This update, which will be on by default, allows admins to manage updates and review change logs in Purview Audit. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Loop: Configure guest sharing for tenants with sensitivity labels

Microsoft Loop will allow guest sharing for all tenants, including those with sensitivity labels, after the rollout in November-December 2024. Admins can configure policies for B2B guest sharing in SharePoint, and users can share Loop components with external guests, respecting existing OneDrive and SharePoint settings.

Microsoft Places app ON by default

The Microsoft Places app will be enabled by default, facilitating users to coordinate in-office days with colleagues. It’s accessible via web, Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft 365 app, with additional features for Teams Premium users. Rollout starts early December 2024. Microsoft PowerPoint: Web viewer add-in retires December 2024

We will retire the Web Viewer add-in for Microsoft PowerPoint and remove it from Microsoft App Source on December 2, 2024. After this date, the add-in will be unavailable for download or use. Existing files will not be affected, although the add-in’s functionality in existing slides will end.

We are retiring the add-in due to low usage. We are prioritizing more critical and relevant features for PowerPoint.

Categorize single items in conversation view in new Microsoft Outlook for Windows and web

iOS Build now included in ActiveSyncDeviceAccess rule for Outlook on iOS

Starting mid-November 2024, Outlook on iOS will support specifying iOS build numbers in ActiveSyncDeviceAccess rules. Organizations can update existing rules to use this feature, but it’s not mandatory. Review the ‘New-ActiveSyncDeviceAccessRule’ documentation for guidance.

Outlook for iOS to match Android Authenticator Auto Open Behavior

Outlook for iOS will update its authentication to auto-open the Authenticator app, aligning with Android’s behavior. This eliminates the need for users to manually initiate the process. The rollout starts in late November 2024 and should be complete by mid-December 2024. Organizations using Outlook for iOS are affected. No action is required from users or admins to implement this change.

New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: Add Microsoft accounts with non-Microsoft email addresses

Outlook for Windows will soon support adding personal Microsoft accounts with non-Microsoft email addresses, allowing users to access subscriptions like Microsoft 365. Rollout begins mid-November 2024 for Targeted Release and mid-December 2024 for General Availability, completing by mid-January 2025. This feature is on by default.
