Microsoft Stream: Add to Favorites & navigate to Stream Start page in the Stream web app on SharePoint

You will now be able to favorite a video directly from the Stream web app. Additionally, there will be a new Home button in the Stream web app for easier navigation to the Stream start page in Microsoft 365 to get back to videos you favorited or videos recently shared with you.

Microsoft Stream: Timeline markers in Teams meeting recording for when your name was mentioned

We are adding markers (which appear as icons above the video timeline) in Teams meeting recording timelines to indicate when your name was mentioned during the meeting. The markers are personalized, so that only you will see when your name was mentioned. The markers help you see who mentioned your name and in which context, and to easily jump right to that part of the meeting. This feature is only available for customers enrolled in Microsoft Teams Premium preview or customers who have purchased the Microsoft Teams Premium add-on offering.

Microsoft Stream (on SharePoint): Upload and manage files in the Stream web app

This feature will allow you to upload a new a video directly from the Stream Web app. Additionally, if you have permissions, you can move the video file to a new location or make a copy.

Microsoft Stream (on SharePoint): View video analytics in playback experience

This feature will allow users to view analytics for videos stored in OneDrive or SharePoint for which they have view permissions.  The analytics are shown as an overlay during video playback and can be toggled on or off by selecting the ‘Analytics’ side pane. Users will be able to see stats showing the number of views and viewers for the last 90 days along with viewership retention which indicate the parts of the video that are most and least viewed.

Microsoft Stream: Search video transcript for Stream (on SharePoint)

This feature allows users who are viewing a video to search for keywords contained in the video transcript. This feature is available on video files that have transcripts and are stored in OneDrive or SharePoint.
Users can navigate through the search results and click on a portion of the transcript to be taken to the respective spot in the video. Users need view or edit permissions on a file to search the transcript. Note: This feature is for searching the transcript of a single video. Users also have the option to search the transcripts of all videos they have permissions to view using M365 search.

Microsoft Stream: Variable playback speed support (0.5 – 2x) for all video on OneDrive & SharePoint

This feature allows users to control the playback speed of videos stored OneDrive & SharePoint. Users will be able to slow down or speed up the playback (0.5x -2x) while watching the video. Note: Teams meeting recordings already have this functionality, we are now adding it to all other videos stored in OneDrive and SharePoint.

Microsoft Stream: Revamped Mobile apps for iOS and Android

We will soon release a completely rebuilt Stream mobile app for iOS and Android. The rebuilt app will give you seamless access to Stream (Classic) and Stream (on SharePoint) videos as well as Teams meeting recordings. The app will also provide an enhanced video playback experience as well as an improved user interface. If your users currently have the Stream mobile app installed on phones or tablets, they will automatically receive the app update when it becomes available. Note: The general release of the rebuilt Stream mobile app will lack certain features that may be critical to some users, such as video recording, uploading and offline downloads. As we continue to build out the revamped mobile app, we expect to add these features in 2023.

This will help meeting recording viewers easily find the right part of the meeting to watch based on when slides are presented.

Microsoft Stream: Edit the transcript text directly in the UI in Stream (on SharePoint)

This feature allows you to edit the transcript text of a Stream (on SharePoint) video directly in the transcript pane. The feature also works with any videos stored in SharePoint or OneDrive for business that contain transcripts. To edit a transcript, you must have edit permission to the video. Transcript editing helps you improve the quality of your transcript by quickly correcting minor mistakes such as misinterpreted acronyms, names, or incorrect punctuation.  Changes in the transcript are also reflected in the closed captions.

Microsoft Stream: IT admin-led migration tool to move videos from Microsoft Stream (classic) to new Stream (on SharePoint)

The Stream migration tool helps admins migrate video and audio files and related metadata from Stream (classic) to new Stream (on SharePoint). With this tool admins can select some, or all, video and audio files in Stream (classic) and then move them to SharePoint folders, SharePoint site collections, or specific OneDrive folders. We expect the migration tool to start rolling
out under public preview in late August and to GA in November.
