Microsoft Teams: Default enable transcription policy for new tenants

We are updating the default policy for Transcription from “off” to “on” for any new tenant. This change doesn’t mean that every meeting will automatically have transcription enabled, but it will allow users to turn on transcription if needed. This adjustment aligns the default Transcription policy with that of Recording, supporting broader adoption of Transcription and all AI features.

Microsoft Teams: Authentication token modernization for Android-based Microsoft Teams devices

All Android-based Microsoft Teams devices including Teams phone devices, non-touch phones, Teams displays and Teams Panels will use IC3 tokens instead of legacy Skype tokens for authentication. Admins can enable ‘Block Legacy Authentication’ to update their authentication tokens when available.

Microsoft Mesh: Support for audio when sharing screens in Microsoft Teams immersive events

Microsoft Teams immersive events will soon support audio during screen sharing for presenters using Microsoft Mesh with a Teams Premium license. This feature, associated with Roadmap ID 423475, will roll out in early to mid-December 2024 and requires no admin action to enable.

Rollout begins early December 2024, with full availability by late January 2025. This feature includes pause, play, volume control, and live catch-up functions. Ensuring Security and Compliance: Keep your Microsoft Teams desktop clients up to date

The message emphasizes the importance of keeping Microsoft Teams desktop clients updated for security and compliance. Teams updates automatically, but admins should ensure this feature is properly configured. Starting November 12th, 2024, outdated clients will receive notifications, and by December 4th, 2024, a blocking page will appear for versions older than 90 days. Admins need to prepare by updating Teams and verifying configurations.
