Microsoft Teams introduces a new meeting option allowing organizers to control who can admit participants from the lobby. This update provides two choices: only organizers and co-organizers, or including presenters. The feature will roll out in July 2024, with no specific action required for implementation. Microsoft Teams meeting organizers can soon manage access to recordings, transcripts, AI recaps, and Copilot features. This will roll out in June 2024, with settings accessible under the ‘Recording and transcript’ tab. Options include access for everyone, organizers only, or specific people. The default setting is ‘Everyone.’
An updated People app on Teams phone devices will provide a simplified and faster experience to help users manage contacts easily.
Teams phone devices will support Private line, a new functionality for Teams Phone that allows you to enable a private second phone number for a select set of users so they can receive inbound calls directly, by passing delegates, admins, or assistants. Calls to the private line are distinguished by a unique notification and ringtone.
User can upload their own custom emojis and reactions to personalize their communication. Emojis will be available within the user’s tenant in chat and channels via the emoji and reaction menus.
Microsoft Teams introduces an Explicit Consent policy for user content in meetings, requiring participant agreement for audio and video use in transcription, recording, or Microsoft Copilot. Organizations can enable this policy through the Teams Admin Center. Rollout starts mid-June 2024, with completion by late June 2024.
Microsoft Teams desktop client must be updated to comply with the Modern Lifecycle Policy. Unsupported versions will receive notifications or blocking pages starting June 19th, 2024. Admins should ensure regular updates for service reliability and feature compatibility. Non-compliance may lead to service degradation or incompatibility.
When explicit consent recording meeting policy is applied, a notification will pop-up when the recording or transcription is initiated requesting consent of participants on Teams phone devices.
Microsoft Teams will soon offer an enhanced purchase experience for third-party app subscriptions via Teams Admin Center and Teams app store. This update, associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 179897, aims to simplify the subscription process with a new user interface. It will roll out in late June 2024, with no preparatory action required.
