Users will now be able to share content from a standalone Teams webapp (from the browser) to Teams chats, channels and meetings (before and during the meeting).
In our efforts to bridge the gaps between general and other channels, introducing the ability to rename the general channel in your team. General channel in a team can be renamed by the team owner, or member (if they have permissions), to show up in the teams and channels list in alphabetical order.
Introducing a new meeting option that gives meeting organizers the flexibility to manage which attendees have access to meeting artifacts such as transcript, recording, AI-generated recap, and Copilot. Meeting organizers can select from three options: (1) People with existing access, (2) Organizers and Co-organizers, or (3) Specific People.
Administrators can upload and set images as custom themes in the Teams admin center for Teams devices, allowing images that reflect their organization’s branding. The feature will first launch for Teams Rooms on Android devices and then gradually release for other device types.
Microsoft Teams is introducing a new draggable Presenter Toolbar for screensharing, offering presenters more control and customization. It will roll out in stages from early June to late July 2024, with no preparatory action required for organizations. Presenters can reposition the toolbar and it will collapse when not in use.
Users who attempt to access a shared channel via a link can request to join the channel. Channel owners will receive the join request and can decide to approve or deny request.
Frontline Managers can use the Shifts plug-in for Copilot to retrieve insights on shifts, open shifts and time off leveraging data from the Shifts app in addition to user and company
data it’s able to access.
If a device operation is no longer required, admins will be able to cancel scheduled device operations like, Software update and device restart, through Teams admin center.
Microsoft Teams is updating the in-app feedback experience and policy for Desktop and Web versions. A new Feedback option will be added to the Settings menu, and Teams will switch to Microsoft 365 feedback policies. Rollout begins early June 2024, with completion expected by late June 2024. Admins should review and update feedback policies accordingly.
Microsoft Teams will soon introduce file image previews in chats and channels, enhancing content interaction. This feature allows users to see a small preview of attached files like images, PowerPoint, or PDFs. Rollouts begin in June 2024, with different completion dates for various user groups. No admin action is needed before the rollout.
