Microsoft Teams (work or school) application on Windows will be renamed to Microsoft Teams

Starting in May 2024, the Microsoft Teams application for Windows will be renamed to “Microsoft Teams,” and the personal version on Windows 11 will be called “Microsoft Teams – personal.” This is in anticipation of an update allowing access to work, school, or personal accounts from a single app. Rollouts will begin in early May and finish by early June 2024. Tenant admins should inform their users and update documentation accordingly.

Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams: Respond to meetings with Follow

Outlook and Teams are introducing a new meeting response called ‘Follow’ for attendees who can’t attend but want to stay informed. It’s rolling out from late April 2024 to early July 2024, initially in the new Outlook for Windows and the web, not on Mac or mobile. Organizers will be notified of ‘Follow’ responses, and users will be marked as free but kept in the loop.

Microsoft Teams: App centric management for app deployment in Teams Admin Center

App centric management for app deployment will introduce a new admin setting to control who in the tenant has specific Teams apps preinstalled. Similar to app assignments, admins will be able to select from three options: ‘Deployed to all users’, ‘Deployed to specific users and groups’, or ‘Deployed to no users’. This feature replaces the existing Installed apps section of app setup policies and provides admins with the ability to manage app deployment individually. The Installed apps section of app setup policies for existing customers will be migrated to maintain existing admin settings in the tenant.

Microsoft Teams: Updates to in-app feedback experience and policies for Desktop & Web clients

We are updating the Settings menu for “Help & Feedback” and the in-app “Give Feedback/Suggest a Feature” experience for Teams Desktop & Web clients. Teams Desktop and Web clients will no longer use Microsoft Teams feedback policies for the in-app “Give Feedback/Suggest a Feature” experience, and instead use the Cloud Policy service for Microsoft 365.

Microsoft Teams: Easily manage Do Not Disturb presence status when screen sharing

We’re introducing a setting that allows Teams Phone Mobile users to opt-out of your presence automatically transitioning to Do Not Disturb when presenting or screen sharing. When this setting is enabled, users will be able to continue to receive call notifications when presenting, without having to manually adjust their presence status.
