Microsoft Teams: Voicemail recorded custom greetings | migration update

Microsoft Teams is migrating recorded custom greetings for voicemail to a new storage location. 99.94% of customers’ custom greetings have been migrated, but for the remaining 0.06% of users who have not received any voicemail in over six months, default greetings will be played instead of any custom recorded greetings starting from May 2024. No action is required, but users who want to ensure their custom recorded greeting is migrated can do so in March and April 2024. Custom greetings entered by text are not affected by this migration.

Users will be able to add and access their additional accounts in the upper right corner of Teams by selecting their profile picture. Teams personal account users can connect and collaborate with the people and groups in their life through Communities in Teams by adding a personal Microsoft account (MSA). The Teams taskbar might look different for users who have Teams Free (for personal use) on their system, because the updated Teams app will attempt to take the place of their taskbar pin. Admins should review their Teams sign-in restriction policies for their users and devices to prepare for a seamless update to new Teams.

New Teams rollout schedule for Commercial and EDU customers

This is an updated timeline for the rollout of the new Teams to Commercial and Education customers. The new Teams is available for all customers today and is being enabled in stages as defined below. Teams Admin Center policy controls will remain available until end of March 2024, at which point they will only apply to your VDI users if applicable. We have heard your feedback; if we are unable to update to new Teams by the end of March, users will be allowed to remain on classic Teams until classic Teams is no longer available. More updates on the end of availability will come in the next few weeks.

We recommend updating your organization to the latest version of the new Teams at your earliest convenience as all new feature development will only be available in new Teams. Comprehensive documentation is available here: End of availability for classic Teams client – Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn
