Require Background Blur (Teams Premium)

We are introducing granular controls to the existing Organizational Defined Background capability which is part of Teams Premium now. With the granular controls, admins will be able to show only custom backgrounds, require background blur, or preset an organizational background.

Out-of-box Controlled-content meeting template (Premium)

We are launching an out-of-the box template for meetings with external participants. The controlled content access template has preset defaults for meeting options to provide tight controls over lobby bypass, who can present, allowing chat across meeting lifecycle/in-meeting, and who can record.

Cloud IntelliFrame available on the new Microsoft Teams experience

Cloud IntelliFrame is an experience that allows online meeting attendees to see people in Teams Rooms more clearly, enhancing the hybrid meeting experience by creating smart video feeds of in-room participants. The smart video feed is created by zooming into their faces and eliminating distractions. You can see the expressions and gestures of the people in the room more easily, which will help improve collaboration in hybrid meetings. It creates equity in hybrid meetings as everyone can be seen and heard.  

Cloud IntelliFrame is now available on the new Microsoft Teams experience.

Avatars: Hardware Requirements and Service Plan Update

You will soon see a new service plan associated with your Microsoft 365 or Office 365 license: Avatars for Teams (MESH_AVATARS_FOR_TEAMS). 

Avatars for Teams app is also updating the minimum hardware requirements to access this feature. The new minimum specified hardware requirement is a two core CPU with 6gb RAM. Users will not be able to utilize this feature if it does not meet the minimum hardware spec. This change is due to be able to provide users with a better Avatars for Teams experience.

Microsoft Teams: Enabling cameras with IntelliFrame and People Recognition experiences in the new Microsoft Teams app

Remote attendees in a hybrid meeting will be able to view multi-stream IntelliFrame video, panoramic room view, and in-room attendees with speaker recognition (including name labels) in the new Teams desktop client.

Microsoft Teams: Enabling People Recognition in a Teams Meeting with a desktop client face enrollment process

Users will be able to enroll their face and create a face profile using the new enrollment process in the Teams desktop client. The face profile is used in Teams Rooms meetings where an Intelligent Camera capable of People Recognition is deployed to recognize in-room attendees, and then labels their identity for all meeting participants, both in-room and remote.

Microsoft Teams: Front Row gallery improvements on Teams Rooms on Windows: Active video speaker promotion

Front Row now promotes pinned or spotlighted participants to the center stage when there is no shared content in the single and dual display mode. For single display mode, when no one is pinned, spotlighted or sharing content, the most recent active speaker video will be promoted to the center. In dual display mode, when no one is pinned, spotlighted or sharing content, the two most recent active speaker videos will be promoted to the center on each screen. If someone is sharing content, the most recent active video speaker will be promoted on the right screen.
