OneDrive: Change to shared folder experience in OneDrive

We’re making a change to the shared folder experience in OneDrive. Currently, when a user opens a shared folder in OneDrive, they are taken to a view of that folder within the sharers OneDrive. In the new experience, opening a shared folder will take the user to the shared folder within the People view of their own OneDrive. This view, organized by people, shows and allows access to all the files and folders that have been shared with the user.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Data Lifecycle Management – Record opening behavior improvement in Office client applications (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)

When a user opens a file in Office client applications (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) that has a retention label managing the file as a locked record, it will now open as read-only and immediately not allow any user edits. A message will explain to the user why they cannot edit the file. This improvement brings parity to the behavior already in place for the online versions of these Office applications.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Information Protection – Sensitivity labels protection policy support for Azure SQL, Azure Storage, and Amazon S3

Label-based protection support is now possible for Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Amazon S3 buckets, all within Microsoft Purview Information Protection. You may already know how to protect Microsoft 365 data like documents or emails with sensitivity labels, and you will now be able to apply these labels and the related protections to these additional sources. In addition, you will have a consistent framework for your sensitive information by allowing your existing label scheme and extending it to apply within these sources.

Microsoft Purview: Data Loss Prevention for endpoints-Archive File Support for Mac Endpoints

DLP will inspect the content of every archive file when it is created, modified, or read. On inspection, all the files (of supported file format) within the archive file will be classified and evaluated against active DLP policies. Afterwards, the archive file will get the applicable auditing / enforcement policy applied to it based on the following logic.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Data Lifecycle Management – Automatic data preservation for high-risk users

Adaptive Protection in Microsoft Purview helps you protect your organization’s data by integrating dynamic insider risk levels, determined by data related activities, with various policy engines to automatically moving users in and out of policies as their risk levels change over time. The integration with Data Lifecycle Management will automatically apply retention labels to preserve deleted emails and files based on a user’s insider risk level.

Microsoft Viva: Viva Engage – Topic Subscription notification

This feature allows users to subscribe to notifications for Viva Engage topics they follow. Users would receive a Teams and Engage bell notification whenever a new post is tagged with a topic they are subscribed to or the topic is added to an existing post.

SharePoint: Sensitive information processing model

SharePoint Premium users will now have the capability to apply a prebuilt sensitive information processing model to SharePoint libraries. This model is designed to detect and possibly extract sensitive information from documents upon their library.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Data Lifecycle Management – Enable deletion of non-empty folders in SharePoint for Microsoft 365 and OneDrive for Business when under a retention policy

With this feature, end users can delete non-empty document library folders containing many files on a site managed by a retention policy. Additionally, this feature ensures that folders covered under a Retention policy and that have been deleted don’t reappear for users who sync a document library offline using OneDrive for Business.
