Title changes for Microsoft 365 Apps updates published to the Microsoft Update Catalog

IT admins using Automatic Deployment Rules to deploy updates for Microsoft 365 Apps can use the updated titles to identify the desired update for automatic deployment without having to adjust the rule for every update cycle.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 81979

When this will happen:

We will start rolling this update out in late June and expect the rollout to be completed by late September.

How this will affect your organization:

With this change, IT admins that use Automatic Update Rules in Configuration Manager to deploy updates for Microsoft 365 Apps, including 2019 and 2021 volume license products, will be able to use the Title property within the search criteria of the ADR definition to easily find the desired update and not have to continually update the search criteria with each update release.

What you need to do to prepare:

If you use Automatic Deployment Rules to deploy updates for Office apps, new keywords included in the Title property of each Office app update published to the Microsoft Update Catalog will include additional terms to help you identify the update that is applicable to your scenario, formatted so that once you define the search criteria you should not need to adjust it for future updates.
