We are rolling out an update to the configuration of sensitivity labels for Microsoft Teams sites and SharePoint sites to enable granular control of external sharing settings.

When this will happen

Rollout will begin in mid-March and is expected to be complete by the end of March.

How this will affect your organization

When configuring a Team or site protection policy, you can now also set controls on external sharing.

For example, you can set a very restrictive policy (confidential) for a Team or site which will restrict sharing with people outside the organization. Or set a relaxed policy (general) for a Team or site that allows anyone with a link to access without requiring sign-in.
