We are adding Application Access Policy (AAP) support to Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online, as a mechanism to ease transition from EWS to Microsoft Graph.

When this will happen

This is rolling out in early February 2021.

How this will affect your organization

Use the AAP to enforce access control to an AppOnly app to a specific set of mailboxes. 

We previously introduced AAP support for Microsoft Graph. 

What you need to do to prepare

Administrators who want to limit third party application access to a specific set of mailboxes can use the AAP PowerShell cmdlets to configure access control.
