Automatic application updates for new Microsoft Teams Rooms Windows devices
Microsoft Teams Rooms for Windows app will automatically update to new application and Windows updates during initial setup for new devices. This feature will be available worldwide from mid to late April 2024 and will affect new devices running app version 4.20 and later. No action is required from users to prepare for this rollout.
In the quest to deliver low-friction deployment and proactive management for Microsoft Teams Rooms, we are rolling out a new feature: the Microsoft Teams Rooms for Windows app will automatically check for and install new application updates and Windows updates during the initial setup, ensuring devices are protected and up to date on day one.

When this will happen:
General Availability (Worldwide): We will begin rolling out mid-April 2024 and expect to complete by late April 2024.
How this will affect your organization:
New Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows devices running app version 4.20 and later will automatically update to the latest app version upon unboxing and deployment. Please talk to your device manufacturer about the availability of such devices. Currently deployed devices are not affected.
What you need to do to prepare:
No action is needed from you to prepare for this rollout. You may want to notify your admins about this change and update any relevant documentation as appropriate.
