Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: Updates to Microsoft built-in Sensitive Information Types (SITs)

Microsoft is updating five bundled EU Sensitive Information Types in Purview to improve detection accuracy by enhancing keywords and processors. The rollout began mid-September 2025, completing by mid-October 2025. No admin action is needed; existing policies will automatically benefit from improved detection.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Pages will add version history in October 2025, allowing users to view and restore previous page versions, including manual, Copilot, or collaborative changes. This feature is enabled by default, requires no license, and cannot be disabled by admins. No action is needed to prepare.

Viva Engage – Retirement of themes in user settings

Microsoft will retire the Viva Engage themes feature in user settings by mid-November 2025, removing personal theme customization except on mobile apps. Public preview: New content explorer experience for cases in Insider Risk Management

A new content explorer for Insider Risk Management cases, featuring advanced filtering, grouping, document preview, customizable columns, and time zone selection, will roll out worldwide in public preview from early October to early November 2025. Microsoft Teams admin center: Expanded security and compliance info for more apps and agents

Starting late October 2025, Teams Admin Center will show expanded security and compliance data (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) for more apps, including those not Microsoft 365 certified, sourced from Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps. This feature is enabled by default with no user impact.
