Microsoft will enforce multifactor authentication (MFA) for all Azure resource management actions starting October 1, 2025, with a postponement option until July 2026. Users must enable MFA on Azure CLI, PowerShell, SDKs, and APIs. Admins can apply Azure Policy and update tools to prepare.

Microsoft Viva introduces AI-generated audio briefings for SharePoint news in Viva Connections, requiring a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Launching August 28, 2025, it offers hands-free playback with controls on Teams, Surface, and web, enhancing accessibility and productivity without admin setup.

Starting September 26, 2025, Microsoft Purview will align DLP alert settings between the portal and PowerShell by disabling alert generation in the portal for rules where PowerShell disabled it. DLP enforcement continues unaffected. Admins must re-enable alerts via portal or PowerShell to keep receiving them.

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will support certified Universal Touch Consoles for Touchboards, providing a center-of-table console experience. The rollout starts late September 2025, enabling default, consistent controls on Touchboard setups. Admins should deploy certified devices and update the Teams Rooms app accordingly.

Microsoft Viva Engage introduces a modernized Private Content Mode allowing Verified and Engage admins to view and moderate conversations in private communities without membership. Enabled via a toggle, it supports moderation actions while preserving privacy limits. Rollout begins mid-September 2025, with audit logging and compliance updates included.

Cloud Update is now generally available in the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center, enabling automated, controlled monthly updates with pause, rollback, exclusion windows, and rollout waves. It supports Copilot readiness, centralized management, and requires admin enablement with specific roles and subscription plans. GCC and some environments are unsupported.

Microsoft will throttle outbound emails sent from default onmicrosoft.com domains starting mid-October 2025, limiting to 100 messages per organization per 24 hours. This encourages use of custom domains. Internal emails remain unaffected. Admins should switch to custom domains and update related configurations accordingly.
