Emoji Reactions Workflows in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams will enable triggering workflows via emoji reactions using the Workflows app, streamlining task automation. Available from late July 2025, this feature requires the Workflows app enabled and not blocked by DLP policies. Admins should review settings and raise user awareness to prepare.

Viva Learning: Academy Auto Save and Draft

Viva Learning premium admins now have Auto-Save and Draft Mode for Academies, allowing background saving and editing published Academies without affecting the live version until published. Additional features include discarding drafts, duplicating sections, and previewing. Rollout begins early August with no configuration needed.

Microsoft Teams Integration with Microsoft Defender for Office Tenant Allow/Block List for blocking domains

Microsoft Teams now integrates with Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Tenant Allow/Block List, enabling security admins to centrally manage blocked external domains in Teams. This blocks communications from those domains, supports audit logging, and requires Teams admins to enable security team access. Rollout begins mid-August 2025.

Microsoft 365 Copilot | New admin policy for harmful content access in Microsoft 365 Copilot

Microsoft 365 Copilot introduces a new admin policy allowing specific users, like legal or compliance teams, to access harmful content in Copilot Chat. This feature, off by default, requires explicit assignment and lets users disable harmful content protection per conversation. Rollout begins September 2025.

Plan for Change: Intune moving to support macOS 14 and higher later this year

Intune will support macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later after macOS Tahoe 26 release this year. Existing devices on macOS 13.x or below remain enrolled but new enrollments require macOS 14+. Organizations should identify and upgrade devices running older macOS versions to maintain support.

Microsoft Intune will require iOS/iPadOS 17 or higher after Apple’s iOS/iPadOS 26 release later this year. Organizations should check device compatibility and Intune reports to identify affected devices. Userless devices via Automated Device Enrollment have specific OS version requirements. Use Intune controls to manage OS versions.

Microsoft Edge: HTTPS First Mode

HTTPS-First Mode in Microsoft Edge automatically upgrades HTTP connections to HTTPS when possible. If a site doesn’t support HTTPS, Microsoft Edge shows a warning to highlight the security risk. This appears only for public sites—not private ones or manually entered HTTP URLs. Users can enable the warning in edge://settings and admins can control availability to this feature using the HttpsOnlyMode policy.
