Organizers and co-organizers can now edit Teams Town Hall event details directly from Outlook via a link to the edit page. This feature, rolling out worldwide in August 2025, improves event management without changing settings or permissions. No action is required, but informing organizers is recommended.
Power BI is retiring Cognitive Services and Azure Machine Learning features by September 15, 2025, transitioning AI capabilities to Microsoft Fabric. New model creation stops August 11, 2025; existing models refresh until September 15. No admin action needed; users should prepare by migrating to Fabric AI services.
Viva Engage community analytics will gain AI-powered themes and sentiment analysis by August 2025, helping admins identify discussion trends and sentiments. This feature is enabled by default for Viva Engage premium users, managed via Viva Feature Access Management, and accessible only to community and network admins.
Outlook’s Copilot chat now lets users summarize email threads with one click, available to those with Copilot chat pinned, even without a Copilot license. Rolling out worldwide from August to October 2025, it’s enabled by default, manageable via policies, and integrates with compliance and audit features.
Microsoft Places introduces a new map-based desk booking experience for Teams Premium users, unifying desk reservations across apps with interactive floor maps, colleague seating visibility, partial/multi-day bookings, delegation, and admin check-in controls. Rollout begins mid-August 2025, enhancing hybrid work flexibility without requiring admin action.
Microsoft Purview is enhancing the Insider Risk Management alert workflow to improve usability by reducing clutter and maximizing visual space. Key updates include default opening of the Activity Explorer tab, relocated features under the Manage button, and adjustable panels. Rollout begins August 2025, with no admin action needed.
Microsoft Defender for Identity will require a 60-day expiration period when enabling Recommended test mode starting late July 2025. Admins must manually set this expiration, which limits test duration and restores original alert thresholds after expiry, affecting alerting and integrations but not users directly.
Microsoft Entra introduces cross-cloud synchronization in public preview, enabling automated user lifecycle management across Microsoft commercial, US Government, and China clouds. It is off by default, requires explicit admin enablement, a Microsoft Entra ID Governance license, and supports configuration via portal, PowerShell, and Graph API.
