Out-of-band update released for Windows Enterprise client devices running hotpatch updates

Microsoft has identified a security issue in the Windows Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) management tool that could allow remote code execution when connecting to a malicious server. This issue only applies to a limited set of scenarios involving Enterprise client devices running hotpatch updates and being used for remote server management.

Windows Deployment Services (WDS): Hands-free deployment hardening (Phase 2)

As announced in January 2026, the unattend.xml file used in hands‑free deployment poses a vulnerability when transmitted over an unauthenticated RPC channel. Beginning with the April 2026 security update, IT admins should prepare for the second phase of hardening for CVE-2026-0386. These changes will make hands‑free deployment disabled by default to enforce secure behavior. After this update, hands‑free deployment will no longer work unless explicitly overridden with registry settings.

Microsoft Purview: Data Loss Prevention – Enrich Defender alerts Graph API with DLP event data

Enhance current API infrastructure to provide easy and simple way for customers to export data to integrate with SIEM tools, create automated workflows and generate customizable reports. Today alert data is present in Graph API and DLP rule match event details are present in Management API. This work enriches the graph API with DLP event data to make correlation and integration easy for customers.

Microsoft Purview: Endpoint Data Loss Prevention – Add support of hyperlinks in warn & block toast messages for Edge browser

With this feature, data officers can now complete their coverage story by now embedding hyperlinks within toast messages for the Edge browser. When this rule is triggered, the end user will see a toast with a customized title and message with a hyperlink. This feature is useful when organizations need to direct users to a specific resource or a repository for more specific instruction (e.g. internal policy SharePoint site).

Power Platform – New Continuous Access Evaluation (CAE) announcement

We are announcing our CAE rollout for user sign-in flows to Dataverse as part of ongoing security improvements for Power Platform. This change affects interactive user access to Dataverse and relies on Microsoft Entra Conditional Access (CAE) policies for near real-time session evaluation. This feature is being gradually rolled out across Dataverse environments, which is anticipated to be complete by September 2026.

Sensitivity labels available soon for Viva Engage communities

Starting late March 2026, Viva Engage communities will support Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels applied to Microsoft 365 groups and SharePoint sites, synchronizing access controls across these platforms. Admins must manually apply labels to existing communities and prepare accordingly for this update.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Planner agent rename and rollout to premium and basic plans

Starting mid-March 2026, Microsoft Planner’s Project Manager agent will be renamed Planner agent, with expanded availability to Microsoft 365 Copilot users on both Planner premium and basic plans. The update includes no functional changes, rolls out automatically, and enhances AI-powered task and status report capabilities.

Microsoft Edge: Copilot new tab page

Microsoft Edge for Business will introduce a Copilot-inspired new tab page combining search, chat, and work content in one box. Rollout starts mid-November 2025 (preview) and general availability in April 2026. Admins can enable it via Edge Management; users must opt in. No default changes or policy updates required.

Improved copy and paste support for @mentions and shared contacts in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams will preserve interactive @mentions, shared contacts, and supported tags during copy and paste if valid in the destination, falling back to plain text if not. This update, rolling out April-May 2026, improves message consistency without requiring admin action.
