Microsoft Teams: Countdown timer for Teams Meetings

Microsoft Teams is introducing a countdown timer feature for meetings, allowing participants to set timers up to 100 minutes to manage time effectively. Rolling out from mid-June to late July 2025, the timer includes visual and audio alerts, color changes, and continues counting negatively after zero. Available only in scheduled meetings. No admin action required.

Microsoft Fabric: Removing default contributor access for Workspace Identity

Microsoft Fabric is removing default Contributor access for Workspace Identities to enhance security. This change will be rolled out from mid-July to early August 2025. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is enhancing the Risky AI usage policy template to support priority content, enabling targeted risk detection. Public preview starts mid-July 2025, with general availability in mid-August 2025. Admins can define high-priority content, and alerts will trigger only for risky AI activities involving that content. No admin action is required before rollout.

Updates to user and group assignment views on the Microsoft Admin Center

Updates to the Microsoft Admin Center will improve the product licensing experience by distinguishing between direct and group-based license assignments. Rollout starts late June 2025 and completes by mid-July 2025. Admins will see a new layout, with direct licenses in the User tab and group-based licenses in the Groups tab.

AI Notes in Microsoft Teams chats will be removed from public preview by the end of June 2025. Users will no longer see the AI Notes entry point in the chat header. Organizations should inform users about this change.
