Microsoft Viva: Introducing Viva Engage Role Management APIs on Microsoft Graph

We’re excited to announce that Viva Engage Role Management APIs in Microsoft Graph are releasing soon. These new APIs enable IT admins to programmatically manage Viva Engage-specific roles, including Corporate Communicator, Network Administrator and Verified Administrator. With these APIs, one can automate role assignments, retrieve role data, and streamline admin workflows across organization. Previously, roles such as Global Administrator, Yammer Administrator, and Knowledge Manager were already supported via Microsoft Graph through Entra. This update expands that capability to include all Viva Engage roles—bringing greater flexibility and control to your admin experience. The APIs are now available in beta version for allowing users to test and share their feedback as we prepare for the general availability.

Viva Engage now supports 14 additional languages (listed below), making the platform more accessible to global users. This update allows employees to engage in their preferred language, helping improve communication across multilingual teams. Users can navigate to their settings in Viva Engage and choose their preferred language in the drop down under ‘Language’ settings. The new languages are – 1. Arabic 2. Vietnamese 3. Serbian (Latin) 4. Slovak 5. Croatian 6. Hebrew 7. Slovenian 8. Lithuanian 9. Estonian 10. Bulgarian 11. Latvian12. English (United Kingdom) 13. Spanish (Mexico) 14. French (Canada)

Microsoft Viva: News AI audio briefing

This feature provides an AI generated audio overview of top 10 news items in the Viva Connections news reader experience. It plays the 10 audio clips sequentially to help users catch up on top news in a hands free manner. This experience will be available in the Viva Connections app in Teams desktop and in the Viva Connections experience in the browser (Accessed from the main Viva home portal – viva.cloud.microsoft).

Support update for SharePoint Framework Field Customizers in Lists and Document Libraries: The planned change has been postponed. Evaluation of retiring SPFx Field Customizers is ongoing. Organizations should consider transitioning to Column Formatting for better performance. No immediate impact, but future updates will be communicated in advance.

Offline Support for Calendar – Create, Edit and Delete Event support

Offline support for creating, editing, and deleting single calendar events in the new Outlook for Windows will be available from mid-June to mid-July 2025. This feature requires the `OWAMailboxPolicy -OfflineEnabledWin` setting to be true. Recurring events are not supported offline. Admins can manage settings using the Set-OwaMailboxPolicy cmdlet.

Microsoft Teams: Speaker Coach (Preview) will retire

Microsoft Teams will retire the Speaker Coach (Preview) feature starting mid-August 2025, with full retirement by late August 2025. Users should be informed, but no admin action is required. This applies to Teams for Windows, Mac, and the web.

Hotpatching will be enabled by default for new Windows quality update policies starting June 23, 2025, improving security compliance and reducing downtime. Organizations should review and deploy new policies as usual and can enable hotpatch updates on existing policies via the Microsoft Intune admin center.
