Action Required: Trust DigiCert Global Root G2 Certificate Authority for using Entra services by January 7, 2026

By January 7, 2026, Microsoft Entra will switch from DigiCert Global Root G1 to G2 certificates. Organizations must trust the DigiCert G2 root CA to avoid authentication failures with Entra services and remove any client-side pinning to the G1 root. Update settings to prevent disruption.

How to use Microsoft Intune to update expiring Secure Boot certificates

You can now deploy, manage, and monitor Secure Boot certificate updates. This method represents an alternative to setting registry keys and using Group Policy. You can use Intune to deploy on all domain-joined Windows clients, opt out of high-confidence buckets, and opt in to Microsoft managing these updates.

Coming Soon: Anthropic models will be available by default in Copilot experiences

Starting January 7, 2026, Anthropic models will be enabled by default in many Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences under Microsoft’s Product Terms and Data Protection Addendum. Admins can toggle this setting, with default off in EU/EFTA, UK, and government clouds. Anthropic is now a Microsoft subprocessor, ensuring contractual and data protection compliance.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Review PDFs using Copilot context menu and AI actions

Microsoft 365 Copilot will enable faster PDF reviews via a context menu in OneDrive web, offering “Explain this” and custom prompt options. It rolls out worldwide from mid-December 2025 to late January 2026. A Copilot license is required; no action is needed now.

SharePoint: OneDrive and SharePoint – recognize text in PDFs

OneDrive mobile apps will gain built-in OCR to recognize text in scanned PDFs, making them editable and searchable. Rolling out worldwide from mid-December 2025 to late January 2026, the feature is enabled by default and requires no admin action. Users activate it by long-pressing a PDF page.

Workspaces in Edge: Upcoming migration to improved architecture

Microsoft Edge Workspaces will migrate saved data from OneDrive/SharePoint to Edge Sync starting mid-February 2026, removing collaboration features. Migration is automatic for all organizations using Workspaces, with no admin action needed. Sync-disabled devices will have local-only new Workspaces. Opt-out requires contacting Microsoft CSS.
