A new Search box will be added to the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint app home pages by March 2026, enabling quick file search with dynamic suggestions. The feature is enabled by default, respects existing permissions, requires no admin changes, and no user action is needed.
Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android will gain live transcription with speaker attribution, timestamps, and optional translation, requiring a Teams Rooms Pro license. Rollout starts late April 2026. Transcription is enabled by default, with no action needed, supporting accessibility and hybrid collaboration.
Microsoft Purview introduces auto-labeling actions for SharePoint and OneDrive, allowing admins to override or remove manually applied sensitivity labels automatically. This enhances data classification accuracy and governance, with rollout starting mid-April 2026. The feature is admin-controlled and not enabled by default.
Microsoft Purview compliance portal’s Data Security Investigations will add a new soft purge action by late May 2026, allowing admins to delete sensitive items recoverable until retention expires. It’s enabled by default, requires no configuration, and does not affect user workflows or existing policies.
Starting April 6, 2026, Microsoft will retire the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel installation option for unmanaged devices in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Existing devices remain unaffected, but new selections cannot use this channel. Managed devices via Intune or Configuration Manager are not impacted. No immediate action required.
The Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel option in the Office Deployment Service will be retired between April 6-11, 2026. It will be removed for new deployment configurations, but existing ones remain unaffected. Only Current Channel and Monthly Enterprise Channel will be available for new setups. No admin action is required.
Microsoft Purview integrates with the Island Enterprise Browser to extend data loss prevention and network data security to unmanaged cloud app workflows. Administrators must enable this feature to inspect and protect browser-based data sharing using existing Purview policies. Rollout begins late March 2026 (preview) and late June 2026 (general availability).
