HTTPS-First Mode in Microsoft Edge automatically upgrades HTTP connections to HTTPS when possible. If a site doesn’t support HTTPS, Microsoft Edge shows a warning to highlight the security risk. This appears only for public sites—not private ones or manually entered HTTP URLs. Users can enable the warning in edge://settings and admins can control availability to this feature using the HttpsOnlyMode policy.

Microsoft 365 companions is a suite of apps, including People, File Search, and Calendar, designed to enhance productivity through quick access to key tools directly from the Windows 11 taskbar. These lightweight apps integrate seamlessly with Microsoft 365, allowing users to efficiently look up contacts and navigate organization charts, locate files, view calendars and streamline workflows without distractions.

The “Transform to Web Page” feature in Microsoft Word will retire on September 30, 2025. Users should switch to the “Start from a Document” flow in Microsoft Sway for creating web content. No admin action is needed, but users should be notified and documentation updated.

Starting August 31, 2025, Microsoft Purview requires Exchange Online PowerShell v3.9.0+ and the -EnableSearchOnlySession parameter for specific eDiscovery cmdlets to enhance security. This change doesn’t affect the Purview portal and remains incompatible with Certificate-Based Authentication. Update scripts accordingly.

Microsoft Teams will retire several Chat Copilot smart actions (“Summarize what I missed,” “What are the open items?” and “What decisions were made?”) and the Add to Group Chat Coachmark between late August and early September 2025. No admin action is needed; users will lose access to these features.

Users can now choose the translation language you prefer without affecting what other meeting participants see in Teams Rooms on Android. Currently, live captions display in the spoken language by default, this change allows individuals to select their own experience. This feature is available on Teams Rooms Pro.

Intelligent meeting recap uses AI to provide a quick summary of your meeting, highlighting key discussion points, identifying follow-up actions, and offering quick access to significant points such as name mentions, when a screen was shared, individualized speaker markers, topics, and chapters.
