Microsoft Outlook: Summarize email attachments with Copilot

Soon, users will be able to summarize PDF, Word, and PowerPoint email attachments with Copilot in Outlook across various platforms. This feature requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and will roll out from mid-May to late August 2025. Encrypted and MIP-protected files are not supported. No admin action is needed before rollout.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Access agents from the Microsoft Edge sidebar

Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will soon be able to access previously added agents from the Microsoft Edge sidebar starting late May 2025. This feature will be available by default, and no admin action is required. Users cannot create or add new agents from the sidebar.

Microsoft Power BI: Tenant setting changes for Microsoft Azure Maps in Power BI

Admins will have updated tenant settings for Azure Maps in Power BI, split into three controls. The update requires Power BI Desktop April 2025 version or later. Rollout begins mid-June 2025. Notify admins and users, review configurations, and use endpoint management to check Power BI Desktop versions.

Microsoft Defender for Identity will disable the remote collection of local administrators’ group members using SAM-R queries starting early May 2025. This change will impact the ability to map potential lateral movement paths. No admin action is required unless NTLM is disabled and you need the feature reenabled.

SharePoint Alerts retirement

Microsoft is retiring the SharePoint Alerts feature to modernize notifications. Key dates include the gradual phase-out starting July 2025, with complete removal by July 2026.
