Microsoft Entra is updating the default sign-in background for Work or School accounts to align with Microsoft’s Fluent design language. This visual update will roll out from late September to early October 2025. No action is required, but internal documentation and help desks should be updated to reduce confusion.
Microsoft Viva Engage is introducing segmentation to deliver personalized experiences by department, geography, or other organizational compartments. The private preview starts in June 2025, with general availability in September 2025. This opt-in feature allows tailored content and interactions within user segments defined via Microsoft Entra Dynamic Groups.

Optical character recognition (OCR) scanning enables Microsoft Purview to scan images for sensitive information. With Embedded support, OCR will scan content in DOCX, PPTX, XLSX and PDFs (scanned and hybrid containing searchable text and images). This will be in addition to support for standalone images
Agent management is moving from the Integrated apps page to a new Agents & connectors page under Copilot in the Microsoft 365 admin center. This update will roll out from mid-July to late August 2025, enhancing visibility and control. Inform IT admins and update internal documentation accordingly.
Copilot Chat now offers improved search refinement in the CIQ Menu File Tab with File Type Filters and People Refiners, enhancing file search efficiency. The rollout is expected to complete by late July 2025. No admin action is required, but notifying users is recommended.
Copilot Chat in Microsoft 365 now allows users to select both individual meetings and entire meeting series from the Calendar Insights Queue for prompts, enhancing context and productivity. This feature is available worldwide and requires no admin action. Meeting series data is now accessible to Copilot, improving its contextual understanding.
Microsoft is introducing two new ways to access Microsoft 365 Copilot in Microsoft Edge for Business: via the context menu and Find on Page integration. These features will be available by late July 2025 and will enhance productivity. No admin action is required, but reviewing DLP and notifying users is recommended.
Microsoft Purview DLP will now scan and classify sensitive data in image metadata when OCR is unavailable, improving data protection. This feature, rolling out from mid-July to early August 2025, requires no admin action and is enabled by default. Review DLP policies to ensure alignment with data protection goals.
Viva Engage is updating the Answers tab to require users to select a community when posting questions, improving visibility and response quality. This change will be completed by mid-July 2025, applies to all users, and requires no admin action, though informing users is recommended.
