Videos embedded in Microsoft Viva Amplify and SharePoint News will play directly in Microsoft Outlook emails instead of opening in a web browser. This feature will roll out from July to September 2025 and will be enabled by default. No admin action is required before the rollout.
New Multi-admin notifications for Microsoft 365 Backup will be available worldwide from early to mid-July 2025. This feature allows organizations to configure a centralized notification list for backup events, enhancing visibility and administrative awareness. It applies only to the Microsoft 365 Backup tool and requires configuration to activate notifications.
Microsoft Teams is introducing a feature allowing file attachments in external 1:1 and group chats, enhancing collaboration. This feature will roll out in July 2025 and requires admin configuration. Microsoft 365 Backup introduces a new Backup Deletion capability, allowing users to delete backups at the protection unit level, aiding in storage management and GDPR compliance. Improved processing visibility for Content AI models in SharePoint Online introduces a new activity pane for real-time insights into document translation and autofill operations. This update, rolling out in July 2025, replaces the legacy “Processing status” column and enhances monitoring, troubleshooting, and user experience. No action is required to enable this feature.
Microsoft Teams is introducing a countdown timer feature for meetings, allowing participants to set timers up to 100 minutes to manage time effectively. Rolling out from mid-June to late July 2025, the timer includes visual and audio alerts, color changes, and continues counting negatively after zero. Available only in scheduled meetings. No admin action required.
Microsoft Teams on the web is introducing a private preview for sign-in with Apple and Google for consumers, starting mid-August 2025 and completing by mid-October 2025. This affects a limited number of users, allowing them to sign in using Apple or Google credentials. Existing sign-in methods remain unchanged. No action is required from organizations.
Microsoft Fabric is removing default Contributor access for Workspace Identities to enhance security. This change will be rolled out from mid-July to early August 2025. Admins can still manually assign roles using RBAC. Review and update your configurations and notify relevant personnel. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is enhancing the Risky AI usage policy template to support priority content, enabling targeted risk detection. Public preview starts mid-July 2025, with general availability in mid-August 2025. Admins can define high-priority content, and alerts will trigger only for risky AI activities involving that content. No admin action is required before rollout.
Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management will allow generative AI app activities to be used as policy triggers, enhancing flexibility and precision. Public preview starts in early July 2025, with general availability in late September 2025. Admins should review and update policies accordingly.
