Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management is introducing network-based detection for sensitive data sharing to cloud apps and Generative AI platforms. This feature, available from July 2025 (preview) and October 2025 (general), enhances insider risk detection and requires admin configuration. Organizations should review and update their Insider Risk Management settings.
Updates to the Microsoft Admin Center will improve the product licensing experience by distinguishing between direct and group-based license assignments. Rollout starts late June 2025 and completes by mid-July 2025. Admins will see a new layout, with direct licenses in the User tab and group-based licenses in the Groups tab.
AI Notes in Microsoft Teams chats will be removed from public preview by the end of June 2025. Users will no longer see the AI Notes entry point in the chat header. Organizations should inform users about this change.
We’re excited to announce that Viva Engage Role Management APIs in Microsoft Graph are releasing soon. These new APIs enable IT admins to programmatically manage Viva Engage-specific roles, including Corporate Communicator, Network Administrator and Verified Administrator. With these APIs, one can automate role assignments, retrieve role data, and streamline admin workflows across organization. Previously, roles such as Global Administrator, Yammer Administrator, and Knowledge Manager were already supported via Microsoft Graph through Entra. This update expands that capability to include all Viva Engage roles—bringing greater flexibility and control to your admin experience. The APIs are now available in beta version for allowing users to test and share their feedback as we prepare for the general availability.
Viva Engage now supports 14 additional languages (listed below), making the platform more accessible to global users. This update allows employees to engage in their preferred language, helping improve communication across multilingual teams. Users can navigate to their settings in Viva Engage and choose their preferred language in the drop down under ‘Language’ settings. The new languages are – 1. Arabic 2. Vietnamese 3. M365 Archive will introduce new search capabilities that allow end-users to easily identify archived content. This feature aims to improve productivity by making archived data searchable by end users so they can identify which site needs to be reactivated.
This feature provides an AI generated audio overview of top 10 news items in the Viva Connections news reader experience. It plays the 10 audio clips sequentially to help users catch up on top news in a hands free manner. This experience will be available in the Viva Connections app in Teams desktop and in the Viva Connections experience in the browser (Accessed from the main Viva home portal – viva.cloud.microsoft).
Support update for SharePoint Framework Field Customizers in Lists and Document Libraries: The planned change has been postponed. Evaluation of retiring SPFx Field Customizers is ongoing. Organizations should consider transitioning to Column Formatting for better performance. No immediate impact, but future updates will be communicated in advance.
