Microsoft Entra ID: Upcoming changes to support passkey profiles in the authentication methods policy (preview)

In November 2025, Microsoft Entra ID will expand the passkey (FIDO2) authentication methods policy to support passkey profiles in public preview, allowing group-based control over configurations. The rollout will start mid-October 2025 and complete by mid-November 2025. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Plan for Change: Intune moving to support iOS/iPadOS 17 and higher later this year

Intune will require iOS/iPadOS 17 and higher later this year, following the release of iOS/iPadOS 26. Organizations should check device compatibility and update accordingly. Userless devices enrolled through ADE will have specific support changes. Use Intune reporting to identify affected devices and manage OS versions.

Intune will support macOS 14 and higher later this year, following the release of macOS Tahoe 26. Existing enrolled devices on macOS 13.x or below will remain enrolled, but new devices running these versions cannot enroll. Organizations should check Intune reporting and request users to upgrade their devices.

Mail Bombing Detection technology in Microsoft Defender for Office 365

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is introducing Mail Bombing Detection to protect against email bombing attacks. This feature will roll out globally from late June to late July 2025, automatically identifying and blocking such attacks. It requires no manual configuration and will be visible in various security tools.

Microsoft Viva Engage: Updating icons for certain activity types with a standard icon

Microsoft Viva Engage will update certain activity icons to a standard neutral placeholder icon for a subset of API-driven activities. This visual-only change will roll out from late June to early July 2025 and requires no action from users or admins. Notify users about this update if needed.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Extending Copilot Chat to Microsoft 365 apps

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is now available in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. It opens in the side pane and can be managed through settings. Rollout begins in late June for Outlook and mid-July for other apps. Admins may need to adjust the pin setting for non-licensed users.

Windows add support for the new certificate authority handling logic in Application Control for Business

Microsoft is updating the logic used by Application Control for Business to handle signer rules that rely on TBS (To Be Signed) hash values for Microsoft intermediate certificate authorities (CAs). This is in response to the upcoming expiration of several 15-year CAs starting in July 2025. The new logic allows Application Control to automatically infer trust for the new 2023 and 2024 CAs if your existing policy already trusts the older CAs. Signer elements like CertEKU, CertPublisher, FileAttribRef and CertOemId are preserved in the inferencing logic.
